Join South Hero Land Trust to celebrate the opening of the rebuilt boardwalk!
With the help of many dedicated volunteers and generous community support, SHLT rebuilt the popular Rec Park boardwalk last fall. Originally built in 2008 and 2009 by local Eagle Scouts, this 450’ wheelchair accessible boardwalk is part of a popular trail system, leading visitors from the parking lot to a wooded wetland and the edge of a large grassy field.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 10am. We’ll then go on a guided walk of the boardwalk and the newly installed StoryWalk book, and give a sneak peek of the future site of the South Hero Watershed Learning Lab.
Many thanks to the numerous volunteers and businesses who supported this boardwalk rebuild, including the Pierson Family, the CIDER ramp-building crew, the Town of South Hero, Treehouse Hardwoods and Lumber, and Lawson’s Finest Liquid’s Sunshine Fund.
Location information: The celebration will be held at a large crushed gravel parking lot. The guided walk will be along a wooden boardwalk which leads to a packed dirt and gravel trail system. Please go to the South Hero Rec Park page for more information.
